Tournament Scoring

Each player earns points each day depending upon his or his team’s play.  The first day the lowest four golf scores based on the Callaway handicap system will earn 11 points.  The next four lowest scores will earn 10 points, etc.  In case of a tie on the handicap score, we match score cards starting with the 17th hole played on the day then 18th, 1st, 2nd, etc. until the tie is broken.  Everyone earns at least one point each day unless disqualified.  The highest possible points is 44 and the closest to that total wins the first place trophy.  Points will be posted on the tournament director’s door by 8:00 PM nightly.

On the second day and third days we employ team points.  Everyone on the team earns the same number of points corresponding to his team’s finish.  The first place team earns 11 points, the second place team 10 points, the third place team 9 points, etc. The last place team earns 1 point.  Again in the case of a team tie, score cards are matched starting with the 17th hole played on the day.  Points are totaled each day for each tournament player.

On day two, we use day ones gross scores to determine the teams and tee times.  On day two we play the two best balls in the foursome to get the team score.  On day three we play a captain’s choice format.  The lowest 11 scores on day two serve as captains and select their teams by a draft system.  The highest of the 11 low scores selects first.  On the final day we use the handicap system of play.  Players who played last year have a handicap plus their scores for days one and two.  New players this year will have a handicap based only on days one and two.  Handicaps will be posted on the Director’s door and on the scorecards for the day.
